We invite you to join us...
We welcome all people of the performing arts professions, as well as their patrons and audience members; all races and faiths, young and old; all those who are interested in celebrating the talent and dedication it takes to sustain a career in the performing arts. Today's Guild membership is comprised of performing arts professionals of all ages, including students and beginners, as well as winners of Oscars, Emmy, Tony, and Obie awards and veteran honorees of the Theatre Hall of Fame and the Kennedy Center Honors.
We actively seek new Guild members who are interested in continuing our legacy of fellowship, who will prepare to become future stewards of the Guild, who will help us grow our endowment, increase the positive impact of our charitable programs, and widen the scope of our fellowship activities.
Our members take great pride in serving our mission and purpose, as defined in our Constitution and By-laws: "The banding together of the people of the theatre with the church to promote social interchange and their general welfare, which shall include the provision of help to the sick, the needy and indigent members of the theatrical profession of all religious faiths."
A Few Benefits of Membership:
Fellowship and Networking: We are an organization of about 600 members, including actors, directors, playwrights, authors, and friends of the performing arts.
Events: We present our own events on the intimate stage at Guild Hall, which seats 65. These include readings of new and old plays, poetry evenings, and cabaret acts, all produced by our membership. We also host several fundraising events throughout the year, including harbor cruises and theatre benefits. All proceeds benefit our Emergency Aid & Relief Program.
Newsletters: We publish a bi-weekly online newsletter to keep members up to date on Guild and member events. Furthermore, our printed newsletter, the EAGlet, is published 4-6 times a year, and includes articles about our progress, our members and our mission in the performing arts community. Our column, "Turns," features all of the showcases, plays, and concerts in which our members are currently performing.
Archives: We maintain a Guild Archive of performing arts memorabilia, including photographs, books, scrapbooks, playbills, artifacts, artwork, furniture, autographs, scripts, and the complete archives of The Actors' Church Alliance (1899-1923), our parent and predecessor organization.
Related Organizations: Members are eligible to join the Actors Federal Credit Union (AFCU), an organization that provides excellent banking services that cater to performing arts professionals. We also have relationships (historical and through our members) with such prestigious organizations as the Twelfth Night Club, the Lambs, the Players, the Comedy Club, and the Ziegfeld Club.
Volunteer Opportunities: Several opportunities are available through committee work, fundraising, public relations, etc. Please contact us for more information.
